How to convert PDF to HEIC
- Choose a PDF or try the sample. Select the pages to export.
- Choose a resolution. Start at 96 or 150 DPI; higher DPI takes more time and memory.
- Convert up to 5 pages in a batch. The page stays responsive while HEIC encoding runs in a background thread. Cancel if you need to stop.
- Download individual HEIC files or prepare a ZIP. Save this batch before selecting the next unconverted pages.
Real HEIC images, created locally
Each selected PDF page is rasterized and encoded as a HEVC-compressed image inside a HEIC container. The download is not a JPEG with a different filename. Output uses a white background and the encoder's fixed lossy quality setting; DPI controls rendered pixel dimensions. Small text can lose detail through compression.
When to choose HEIC, JPG or PNG
Choose HEIC when your destination app explicitly accepts it. Support varies across browsers, operating systems and upload forms. PDF to JPG is a more compatible choice for general sharing; PDF to PNG supports lossless image compression and transparent unpainted areas. HEIC is not guaranteed to produce the smallest file for every document.
Preview and output limits
The browser shows a JPEG preview of the rendered PDF page because HEIC display is not available everywhere. It is not a decoded preview of the final HEIC. Check the downloaded image in your target viewer. Each output is limited to 8 megapixels and 4,096 pixels per side. Lower DPI or select fewer pages if the limit is exceeded.
PDF to HEIC questions
Can I process a large PDF?
Open one PDF up to 150 MB and 500 pages, then convert up to 5 pages per batch. HEIC encoding is more demanding than JPG encoding. Save each batch before continuing; new conversions replace previous download links. The output batch limit is 120 MB, and changing settings resets the converted-page count.
Can I combine pages into one HEIC image?
Choose One long image to stack up to 5 pages vertically, within the same 8-megapixel and 4,096-pixel-per-side output limits. Lower DPI or fewer pages may be needed. This creates one tall still image, not a multi-frame HEIC sequence.
Will text and links remain editable?
No. HEIC contains rendered pixels. Selectable text, links, vectors and document structure are not retained; this tool does not perform OCR. Keep the original PDF for document editing and searching.
Why will my browser not display the HEIC download?
Some browsers and apps do not support HEIC display. Open it in a compatible photo viewer or use JPG or PNG for the destination. A ZIP contains the same HEIC files and does not change their compatibility.
Can I convert HEIC back to PDF?
Yes: HEIC to PDF combines primary still images into a new PDF. It cannot restore selectable text or vector graphics from the original document.
Does conversion upload my PDF?
No. Both PDF rendering and HEIC encoding run locally. The first conversion loads the codec, and slower devices may need smaller page batches or lower DPI.
