How to convert a PDF to PNG
- Choose a PDF or try the sample. Files are processed in this browser and are not uploaded.
- Select pages, choose a resolution, and pick a white or transparent background. The pixel estimate uses the actual dimensions of your selected page.

Sharp text, diagrams, and screenshots
PNG uses lossless image compression, which avoids the JPEG artifacts often visible around text and thin lines. Converting a PDF still turns text and vectors into pixels: text is no longer selectable, and this tool does not perform OCR. Higher DPI produces more pixels and usually a larger file. It cannot recover detail missing from a low-resolution scan.
Pick a resolution for your task
- 96 DPI — screen viewing: smaller pixel dimensions for previews and everyday sharing.
- 150 DPI — clearer text: a useful starting point for documents and screenshots.
- 300 DPI — print reference: more pixels for close inspection and printing, subject to canvas and memory limits.
An A4 page is approximately 1,240 × 1,754 pixels at 150 DPI or 2,481 × 3,508 pixels at 300 DPI; exact dimensions depend on the PDF page size. The tool displays the estimate for your own file before conversion.
White or transparent backgrounds
White is convenient for ordinary documents. Transparent lets a page with an unpainted background sit on a colored slide or design. White rectangles, white page artwork, and the background of a scanned image remain part of the content; this option does not remove them.

Can I convert all 500 pages at once?
You can open one PDF up to 150 MB and 500 pages. Separate images are converted in batches of up to 50 pages to control memory use. The batch panel shows selected pages, pages converted in this session, and remaining pages. Save the current images or ZIP before starting the next batch; previous download links are replaced. “Converted” does not mean downloaded.
Can I save several PDF pages as one PNG?
Yes. Choose One long image to combine up to 5 pages vertically. Large pixel dimensions may require a lower DPI. Separate PNGs are better when a long image would exceed your device’s canvas limits.
Why can a high-DPI export fail?
A page can be too large to render safely even if the PDF itself is small. Try a lower DPI or fewer pages. The tool checks pixel limits and does not silently reduce your selected resolution.
Will PNG make a blurry scan sharper?
No. Lossless compression preserves the rendered pixels, but a larger export cannot restore detail absent from the source scan. Use a better original scan when available.
Is JPG or WebP better for my file?
For photos or a smaller download, try PDF to JPG or PDF to WebP. File sizes depend on the content. PNG is often preferable for text and diagrams. To combine PNG images into a document, use PNG to PDF.
