Make a PDF from PNG images

Turn PNG screenshots, diagrams, and artwork into a single PDF. Images are arranged in the order you choose and centered on each page.

  1. Choose the images you want in your PDF.
  2. Drag rows, use the arrow buttons or a page position, or sort by filename. Then choose a page size.
  3. Create and download your PDF. The files stay on your device.

This tool runs locally in your browser. It does not upload your images, require an account, add a watermark, or retain a copy of the PDF.

Image quality and ordering

Will my original image quality be preserved?

Preserve PNG detail embeds supported PNG pixels without JPEG compression or downscaling, including optional transparency. Smaller-file mode converts to JPEG at 92% quality, limits the longest edge to 4,096 pixels, and uses a white background. PNG metadata and animation are not retained.

How do I sort a large batch?

Use Sort by filename for natural order (1, 2, 10), Reverse order, the up/down buttons, or a numeric page position. The list shows 50 filenames at a time. More than 100 images skips thumbnails, but you can still inspect and change every page position.

Turn screenshots and diagrams into a PDF

Use Preserve PNG detail for screenshots, interface designs, charts, and scanned text. It keeps the original pixel dimensions and avoids JPEG artifacts. Choose Smaller file for photo-like images when file size matters more than fine detail; the result is not guaranteed to be smaller for every image.

Choose your page layout

Fit image uses one PDF point per image pixel and adds your chosen margins. It does not read physical print dimensions from PNG metadata. A4 and US Letter fit the whole image inside the page without cropping. Auto orientation matches each image; portrait and landscape use a consistent direction. Check any page with the layout preview before downloading.

Compare preserve and smaller-file modes

Generate a text-and-line sample to see the same cropped area in both modes, with measured PDF sizes. This demonstration runs on your device and uses no personal images.

PNG to PDF questions

Can I keep a transparent PNG background?

Yes. Choose Preserve PNG detail and Keep transparency. The PDF retains the image alpha channel; a PDF reader may display the page on white. White background draws a white page behind the image. Smaller-file mode always uses white.

Does preserve mode keep every part of the original file?

It preserves image pixels at their original dimensions for supported PNGs up to 8 bits per channel. It does not preserve PNG metadata, animation, or all color-management information. Animated PNGs use a still image. A PDF containing a screenshot does not gain searchable text or OCR.

What happens to very large images?

PNGs are limited to 32 megapixels per image and 16,384 pixels per edge. Preserve mode has a 128-megapixel batch budget. These checks reduce memory pressure but cannot guarantee every device has enough memory. Split large jobs into smaller batches; preserve mode never silently reduces the resolution.

Can I combine more than 50 PNGs?

Use Images to PDF for up to 1,500 images, folders, or ZIP files. That batch tool currently uses JPEG compression and white backgrounds; use this PNG tool in smaller batches when preserving PNG detail is essential.
